The Road To True Greatness
Jesus shows us that true greatness is not found in gaining status or being noticed, but in denying ourselves and serving others. In Mark 9, he turns our usual ideas of importance upside down and calls us to receive the humble, guard against sin, and follow him with wholehearted devotion. What might it look like to walk the road of self-denial with Jesus?
Scripture References: Mark 9:30-50
From Series: "The Gospel of Mark"
The Elders will be teaching through the book of Mark the first Sunday of every month. Marks Gospel is a fantastic book. The Gospel of Mark records many aspects of Jesus’ ministry, but it has no account of his birth. This gospel begins when Jesus is already an adult. Mark portrays Jesus as the suffering servant.
